Interesting CS thesis: “Synthesis OS”
I always take suggestions for cool nerdy things to write on (since apparently people like my nerdy rants). Since I was asked to post more cool nerdy things (and not just Persona screenshots), and very-not-subtly asked some friends on IRC for suggestions, mnxmnkmnd suggested this thesis. I’m normally not quite so truly insane with devouring academic papers as he is, but this one’s special in many ways.
There’s no way I can possibly even summarize this paper in a tumblr post, but I’ll at least try to cover some of the basics. If you’re familiar with college-level CS stuff, like the ideas of locks, threading, kernels, that sort of thing — it shouldn’t be too hard to read. Anyways, squee starts here.
